Knife Bins in Scarborough |
Hello Resident
Did you know that there are two community knife bins in Scarborough? Located at Friars Way car park and William Street car park, they are bright orange bins which will allow a safe disposal for knife and bladed weapons. Those wishing to deposit a knife are advised to wrap the blade in either thick paper or cardboard, and secure with tape as a safety precaution. Once secure, take the knife directly to the bin location and deposit it safely by dropping it through the hatch. We collect the bladed items from the bins and destroy them. We have found that a lot of the blades we collect, are kitchen knives. We would prefer to safely destroy these, rather than having them waiting for collection in rubbish bins in alleyways. We have also collected some very sharp “Rambo” style knives, daggers, curved blades and “shanks.” You can find more information about knife laws via Fearless, which is part of Crimestoppers, at this link here: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/fearless/more-info/crime-types-explained/knife-crime If you have a collection or blades you want to dispose of, and don’t want to take them to the knife bin, for any reason, please reply to this message and one of our team will make contact to collect them from you.
Kind Regards
